Keskustelua Dalai Laman kanssa 3

Keskustelua Dalai Laman kanssa 3               7.12.11

Dalai Lama: Genuine happiness requires peace of mind or a degree of mental composure. When this is present, hardship counts for nothing. With inner strength or mental stability, we can endure all kinds of adversity.

Juhani Hakala: Energy is the power of mind. The more energy, which is everywhere (primary wisdom), the more stability of mind. And happiness also radiates outside. Instability of mind is obstacle to find the energy. But finding yhe energy is possible to every human being.

DL: The basic foundation of humanity is compassion and love. This is why, if even a few individuals simply try to create mental peace and happiness within themselves and act responsibly and kind-heartedly towards others, they will have a positive influence in their community.

JH: The basic foundation of community should be compassion and love. It should be the main theory of economic systems. Then are produced only necessary things for surviving all life in the globe. Things are cheaper, because advertisement, product development  (to make new needs) or fancy packages are not needed. The taxes are lower, because people help each other, without expensive institutions. The army is not needed, but because we are humans, we need police and prisons in some extent for some time. We need active people but also the problems of western capitalistic systems guide our thoughts to that direction.

DL: Even more important than the warmth and affection we receive, is the warmth and affection we give. It is by giving warmth and affection, by having a genuine sense of concern for others, in other words through compassion, that we gain the conditions for genuine happiness. More important than being loved, therefore, is to love.

JH: If you need all love to yourself, there are no left to other people. You can give love only from your surplus. If you don’t love yourself, you cannot love others. Smile is the shortest distance between people. What you give to world, the world gives back hundred times more.

DL: In today's deeply interdependent world, war is outdated and illogical. All regions, and all peoples, are interconnected environmentally, economically, and politically. War, oppression or civil strife in one area inevitably affects people in other parts of the world.

When people started to own, then started also the wars. Warlord is the consultant of hate. And hate causes wars and personal sicknesses. I know, I had asthma 25 years. It ended when I had discussion with my earlier life as a war lord. I had to say, that now I am Buddhist and I love people.   That life has been very good (?) and powerful, because it effected still to my present life.

DL: In his new book "Beyond Religion: Ethics for a Whole World" His Holiness the Dalai Lama argues that religion is not a necessity for pursuing a spiritual life. Rather he proposes a system of secular ethics that transcends religion as a way to recognize our common humanity and so contributes to a global human community based on understanding and mutual respect.

The main reason of wars are owning and religion. Religion are used as a shield of hate – on personal or community level. The main message of all main religions is good. If people find bad things from Tora, Bible or Koran, those bad things are already inside them.
